MY STORY

To me, food is love.

I started out as a child hovering by the cooker as my wonderful mum Hilary prepared the Sunday roast. Fast-forward a decade and my uni room mates discovered that my cooking skills could keep them all well-fed and happy, without having to head back home for some decent grub (for the price of a few beers!).

And that was the moment I understood the power of food to bring people together; sitting around a table sharing anecdotes of the day and creating shared memories, all whilst fighting over each other to get the best yorkshire puds.

These days those moments are shared with my wife Corinna and our two children Daisy and Jack - both of whom, I'm happy to say, seem to be demonstrating a similar 'foodie' temperament as their parents!

Beating thousands to gain a spot on MasterChef UK 2021 was truly a dream come true, and cemented my desire to create my own food journey.  And so  The Big Happy Cook was born. I'm a big lad - in heart and stature - and when I cook, I'm happy.  It's that simple!

TBHC philosophy

Cooking with fresh, seasonal produce is at the heart of everything I do. As is buying local.  There are so many benefits to picking the right food at the right time of year... it has a higher nutritional value and supports your body's nutritional needs all year round; it's environmentally friendly; it's cheaper and supports our local farmers. But most of all, it just tastes so much better. Fresh produce is sweeter, juicier and mouth-wateringly delicious.

CARING FOR OUR PLANET

From tomatoes to orchards , all our produce is Worcestershire-grown.

Sustainably sourced fish and seafood.

Where organic produce is available, that's what we choose.

Working to continually reduce food waste.
